ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ash nude is a carved from a fallen ash tree and this piece was given to me by a neighbor who had to have it removed . I regularly attend life drawing sessions and decided to apply some of my skills to this unique piece of wood . It had a natural twist to it and I just went with the flow of the tree. Because wood is a natural material and it changes over time , it has darkened in color and cracks will occur as it ages . I just consider it mellowing with age .

Kathryn Vinson is a native Colorado sculptor living in Loveland, Colorado. Her work of the past 19 years is primarily delicate botanical sculptures made from stone, wood and copper. Each piece is carved and shaped producing one of a kind creations. She has permanent installation at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, won best in sculpture at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum annual exhibit, Women Artist of the West award winner, is a Signature member of American Women Artists, has exhibited twice at the National Sculpture Society show at Brookgreen Gardens NC, and the 2020 Colorado Governor's show and sale. She is currently represented by Wild Horse Gallery, Steamboat Springs CO.
