Peter Marchi Nardini's work calls on subtle influences from a lifetime of collecting. The work evokes a world of interiors and landscapes. An environment creating its own space and time. We are transported down a corridor of memories and associations, childhood perceptions of different spaces, rooms, cupboards, boxes. Things to keep and preserve forever. These are private places where one should be able to go and touch the unknown. To commune with the mysteries of the universe. The pieces begin to speak of greater mysteries, of religious beliefs and ones own place in the universe. Peter Marchi Nardini was born in Glasgow to Italian parents in 1951. He did his foundation course at Central St. Martins School of Art in 1969. Intending to go on to study stage design. This proved too constricting and he switched to sculpture at Chelsea School of Art, where he worked under Paolozzi, graduating in 1974. He now lives and works in France and exhibits mostly in Scotland, Italy and South East England.
