At a very young age, he became interested in drawing and painting. He was inspired by his classmate Richard van Dijk, the well known artist from Tilburg who deceased in 2008. Richard had soon made painting his profession. Joost however, took the long road. After his military service as a Marine on the Caribbean island of Curacao, Joost started working as an internal employee at Huize Assisi and remained there until his retirement. All those years he continued to draw and paint. He attended many courses. He also explored the arts of photography, pottery, ceramics and raku firing, but always returned to drawing and painting. Some of his teachers, Theo Kappé, Henk van der Heijden and Olav Koolen helped him to discover new techniques and skills. Painting nature in nature has his preference. In recent years, he also started working with glass. He studied with Jan-Hein van Stiphout, a renowned glass artist from Tilburg. There he learned how to enamel, glass fusing, stained glass and more. In 2008 he joined a group of artists in Vught. He remained there until today. They like to work together and inspire eachother. Hopefully for many more years to come!
