There once was a planet of bugs. All different kinds of bugs. There were people there in ancient times. Seems they could not get along with each other so they were always fighting wars and figuring out new ways to kill each other so eventually they did. Well it seams the bugs were a lot harder to kill so they survived. They got smarter and smarter as time went by. Eventually they became like the ancient people were and formed tribes and then countries and then two or three of the most powerful countries ruled their part of the world. Well in order to do this they made some bugs into politicians to make laws so the worker bees and worker ants and other bugs could be controlled. They even had elections so they could agree on who to listen to so more work would get done. Just like now they had different groups of bugs trying to get their most popular bug buddy elected so they could make the other group of bugs do more of the work. If their bug buddy was elected he promised his bug friends that he would see to it that they could live in nicer houses. So the trick for all worker bugs was to listen to all the politician bugs to try to see who would make their lives easiest to live. These politician bugs made all kinds of promises. How could all of these promises be true? One bug said he was really really smart because he was really really rich. He said he knew more than all the generals so he was going to get us out of all the stupid wars. He was going to fix the economy and make all kinds of new jobs. The bugs in his country would be great again. Somehow he got elected and now he had to deliver on all of his promises. Turns out he thought he was some kind of a great God and all he had to do was raise his hand and speak and everything would happen. It did not work. The worker bugs got mad and made him stand next to a bright light so they could look at him better. Just like the light in the drive way where all the bugs fly around it at night. Well it got too hot for him that he withered up and disappeared. The moral of the story is lies will catch up with you and destroy you. Only stupid people tell lies. Do not be stupid. This is a sculpture made by the evaporative pattern process. It is a extremely hard process to control. There are 50 variables that act on the casting. Add to that if I have some degree of success I have to add to the difficulty to keep my interest alive. Here I am adding other materials to work with the foam. I use a coating on the foam to buy a few nano seconds of time before the sand falls into the cavity of the melting foam. This coating is water based and must dry completely before I pour the casting. If it is not it will explode in my face. When water expands into gas in a couple of nano seconds it is an explosion! I was drying it next to my wood burning stove and the radiant heat deformed the foam. Disappointed at first I thought it would be interesting to cast it and see what I got. I love serendipity.
