I live and work in the east of the Netherlands on the German border on the Rhine. After my studies at the art academy in Den Bosch (specialization ceramics) I started working with porcelain. The fragile and the beauty of the porcelain particularly appealed to me. Over time, the material and its origins began to fascinate me more and more, that is why I started looking for what the essence of this material was for me. In addition, I developed a working method that is very similar to the way my father worked in his bakery. I started to translate the obtained shapes into other materials aluminum, polystyrene and rubber. Because rubber has different compositions, I started to study the origin and history of the material. Both materials are very valuable industrially. Porcelain used to be referred to as 'white gold' and rubber is 'black gold'. During the covid 19 lockdown I made porcelain works (landscapes) in exclusively white or black. And large hanging black rubber banner objects
