"Eye of the Beholder" began as a single vessel, designed to be a unique sculptural self portrait. The cups that form the set were an after thought and designed to complete the set in the Spring of 2021. Ocean waves wrap around the bottom of the vessel beneath the light blue skyline. Above the skyline, at the bottom of the neck of the vessel, a brown mountain range supports the vine like arms that ascend to the figure's collar. The bottle top is degined like a cork stopper and rests snuggly into the vessel. The whimsical, cartoonish head is topped with a brown cloak that fits like a hat. The large eye is exaggerated, accentuating the visual. The cloak forming the top hat brings a unique message to the viewer. Before the cups were made, I entitled this piece, "THE MESSENGER". After completing the cups, I changed the name of the piece to "Eye Of The Beholder". This piece is for decorational purposes only, not for consumption.

I am inspired by the beauty and faces of nature. In my work, I capture the true essence of a being, using stunning poses that are fun, yet natural, and often majestic. My pieces are built by hand, primarily using porcelain clay, and constructed with fluidity and balance. Throughout my work, there is a lengthy process of multiple glaze fire tests for each unique glaze pattern used. Through the creation of my animated creatures, I play with expression, emotion, and movement. I love to capture an exact moment in time. I enjoy exploring the state of curiosity, divinity, fear and surprise. Through my creative process, my innovative works exude a dynamic, yet delicate presence; each commanding a unique power of their own. Suzy Pease is an Award winning Artist who works from her home studio in Gulfport, Florida. She obtained her B.A. in studio Art from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1999 and Teaching Certificate from Westfield State College in 2001. Among many Awards, she has received the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Award and the Congressional Art Award, as well as winning many local awards in Florida. Suzy’s desire for sculpting began in 2010. Having resigned from her professional career as a Fine Art Teacher on a quest to find her true passion, she headed out West on a most spontaneous adventure across the country, landing in Mesa, Arizona. There, she enrolled in classes at the Master Level at Arizona State University, desperately seeking to find a spark.... and that, she did!! Studying under internationally renowned Ceramist, Kurt Weiser, she fell head over heels for the ceramic process. She later returned to Florida, where she now calls home, and began to build her home studio. "I was flooded with euphoria as I began to experiment with various techniques, processes, and types of clay. Over the years, and many firings later, I have found the ultimate bliss is to open the kiln and see, for the first moment, the hours upon hours and layer upon layer of glaze applications come together to form a paragon of color and texture. My artistic goals include continuing to be inspired on a daily basis, a commitment to learning new processes, and a dedication to sharing ideas with others through my visual language." Suzy currently exhibits her work locally as well as online. In addition, you can find her work at Florida Craft Gallery in St.
