ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Helios Steed was carved from a solid piece of Honey Calcite , as stone that has bright orange yellow crystals divided with white outlining the crystalline bunches . The structure of the stone it was carved from has a definite " grain" and unique marbling as well as translucence that transmits light . The wonderful thing about this material is that you can light it in such a way that the stone glows from within. Helios is a sun god with a chariot pulled by glowing steeds .

Kathryn Vinson is a native Colorado sculptor living in Loveland, Colorado. Her work of the past 19 years is primarily delicate botanical sculptures made from stone, wood and copper. Each piece is carved and shaped producing one of a kind creations. She has permanent installation at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, won best in sculpture at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum annual exhibit, Women Artist of the West award winner, is a Signature member of American Women Artists, has exhibited twice at the National Sculpture Society show at Brookgreen Gardens NC, and the 2020 Colorado Governor's show and sale. She is currently represented by Wild Horse Gallery, Steamboat Springs CO.
