T-Shirts-Idols-Ideology Punk meets Funk On the occasion of Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Queen of Punk’ 80th birthday I presented a Pfunk ceramics exhibition at Budapest’s foremost punk and extreme fashion house. Growing up in the early 80’s with Sex pistols and Che Guevara T-shirts and socialist upheaval, why stop at Che? What about the rest of the marxist Idols, and then in 2014 Hello Kitty being labeled an Idol by Sanrio's president and founder Shintaro Tsuji. I really couldn't resist playing with these themes. This series consists of 10 + 1 sculptures (the 1 is owned by Vivienne Westwood). Each unique work is porcelain, salt or wood fired 1330oC, over-glazed in white for t-shirts, unique ceramic transfers based on a Vivienne Westwood silk rose dress design, and finished off with details in gold and platinum lustre, having gone through at least 7 different kiln firings Signed, titled and dated on the base.
