Legacy Print

A quest for stability, for a place to belong, disposal of existing experience, accession to obligation... As if passing through the matrix, each generation deals with the same challenges. Since childhood, we have been surrounded by objects and symbols, the influence of which we are not aware of. My parents’ Soviet library, which I remember being stored in a sideboard, has later moved to be stored in boxes in the attic. For me, those books are a symbol of conditional legacy and a bundle of knowledge, which I can hardly ever use. That was how a series was born that combined encoded messages that had formed our parents and our own protest – acceptance – transformation. The books from the archive have become shelved, but are being reborn into a new history.  Covered with gold leaves, which, although giving them honours, makes them absolutely inapplicable for direct use, they become a manifestation of the natural order of things. To be exact, of the inevitable meeting of the two poles that used to be in conflict. The materials used to embellish the nation’s spiritual symbols, after a while take revenge and “destroy” the attributes, whose purpose was sheer propaganda.
