ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Legacy, 2018 This was a hard piece to make and the first since my mother past that same year. The space between was a drought, a quagmire of confusion brought on by the chaos of losing a parent and the preceding agony of a divisive fissure between my siblings over the estate. Losing those who are dearest to us is a monstrous experience especially someone so anchoring as my mother, so to the point and blunt in her approach to the world, infallible. The piece itself was my approach to our local themed-art-gathering know as the Gulf Art Space, in our small town of Fairhope, Al. The theme being "Fear" this time around was almost poetic, presenting an opportunity to exonerate the demons of those still monstrous years.
