ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Moonflower is hand-carved from a single piece of Italian Ice alabaster and fitted with a hand hammered copper repousse stem, mounted on a walnut base. I enjoyed the carving as it started as a rough boulder and developed in the carving to match my minds image of the perfect night bloom . Because the stone is translucent it gives a beautiful inner glow and looks more delicate than it is . This piece is fairly large so it needs a grand setting for it to display well .

Kathryn Vinson is a native Colorado sculptor living in Loveland, Colorado. Her work of the past 19 years is primarily delicate botanical sculptures made from stone, wood and copper. Each piece is carved and shaped producing one of a kind creations. She has permanent installation at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, won best in sculpture at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum annual exhibit, Women Artist of the West award winner, is a Signature member of American Women Artists, has exhibited twice at the National Sculpture Society show at Brookgreen Gardens NC, and the 2020 Colorado Governor's show and sale. She is currently represented by Wild Horse Gallery, Steamboat Springs CO.
