ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This sculpture draws inspiration from the surreal art of the famous artist Hieronymus Bosch. Two figures are depicted riding through the night on a giant fish, which appears surprisingly gentle and welcoming. Despite carrying little more than a lantern, the pair seems confident that they have all they need to navigate the treacherous waters of life, trusting in the power of love to light their way. Bosch's influence is clear in the dreamlike quality of the piece, as well as the fantastic elements that evoke a sense of mystery and wonder. But even as it pays homage to the past, this sculpture also speaks to our contemporary experience, reminding us that even in uncertain times, love can provide us with the strength and courage to face whatever lies ahead. It is a powerful and evocative work of art that is sure to inspire and captivate anyone who views it.

You can find me on Patreon. Elya Yalonetski is an award-winning ceramic artist based in Berlin, whose unique creations have earned her a dedicated following on social media. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Yalonetski combines her traditional training from the ceramic art school with baroque and renaissance elements to produce sculptures and figurines that are both stunning and evocative. For Yalonetski, ceramics is a mystical medium that transcends time and space. Despite being fragile, ceramic pieces can survive for ages, preserving the personal aura of their creators and serving as testaments to entire cultures. For example, the Linear Pottery culture and Stroke Ceramic culture are just two of the many ancient cultures that have been named after ceramics, though we cannot know the particular names of the earliest artisans themself. With over 1,000 objects sold to collectors around the world, Yalonetski hopes that her work will one day be appreciated by future generations, who will be able to decipher the emotions and intentions behind her art, just as she has done with the work of ancient craftsmen. In addition to sculptures, Yalonetski also offers affordable figurines that are 100% unique, each one created on a pottery wheel and painted by hand with glazes. For those who appreciate her art but are unable to purchase an original piece, the artist also offers high-quality prints of her sculptures arranged in her signature style.
