ABOUT THE ARTWORK

No Angel is a console with wooden frame entirely covered in white synthetic plaster. The legs with an Italian rationalist design are enriched with brass inserts that give shine. In the upper top the protagonist is a cast of ancient raffia canvas with a worn look while. In the lower top four brass circles frame the skulls that emerge on the surface. No Angel is a cynical vision of life whose meaning is that no angel helps our path, only we are architects of our destiny

My creative path began in 1995 when I entered an old fabric upholsterer's shop. For ten years with patience and passion I have learned all the secrets of this profession that has introduced me to the world of furniture until it leads to the foundation of a company, Mati designlab known all over the world for its extraordinary creations, today I am developing one of my more personal furnishing proposals. An idea that in some way is taking me back in time to that period of my life where I was more tied to artisanal work than to industrial work. This is how my creations in synthetic plaster were born, a very hard and very ductile and eco-sustainable material I find various inspirations from trees, from the intertwining of the branches, from the weaving of the ribs and they meet the brass, marble, leather, and all those materials and subjects that I want to impress as a sculpture on my creations. I am a ceramist and I live in Italy, I have always lived in a small town north of Milan, this passion for terracotta and the beauty of the landscape and our traditions have helped me to shape objects with creativity After finishing my work, I break the mold that created them to give the creation a uniqueness that no other customer will ever have. From this act comes the name I wanted to give to this initiative, Alessio Monti Breaking the Mold
