About The Artwork

I found the motor hood and it reminded me of the cars from the 30s, so I wanted to build a car but the rest of the pieces started to show up in my studio and they themselves took me to the truck. What I like it most is that the whole sculpture is done with only 13 pieces.

I felt the need to work in the material world in addition to working on screen as the work of the graphic designer requires spending hundreds of hours in a completely digital environment, so I decided to create assemblage of sculptural pieces with recycled technological or domestic objects. Working with physical objects, unlike graphic design where everything remains in virtuality makes me feel alive: tangible objects, metal, electronics or plastics, the use of tools and their noises, the smells of paint and the fact of staining hands or sometimes even cutting a finger (not on purpose!), all of this connects me to the real world. I use simple geometries: squares and cubes, circles, 90 and 45 degree angles. I also normally stick to basic colors: pure reds and yellows, blacks and the natural color of the materials. In a way what I do is convert the 2D of my craft as a designer to real objects. I am interested in working with recycled materials as an act of rebellion against the relentless obsolescence of objects. The task of disassembling disused computers or household items leads me to find interesting elements to recreate those objects with a new essence. Normally the piece itself is the one that dictates the way forward, when an object that reminds me of a certain figure, I give myself the task of completing the vision and adding additional elements so that they materialize and finish giving meaning to that original vision: the container of inks from a printer that becomes the head of a bull, the broken part of an engine that comes to life as part of a truck, or the lid of an industrial box that becomes a car. I am multidisciplinary and self-taught. I like to experiment with new techniques, materials, and subjects.
