The Danish-French sculptor Sonja Ferlov Mancoba (1911-1984) was kind of forgotten but reintroduced 2019 with an exhibition first in Copenhagen (The National Gallery of Denmark) and then in Paris (Centre Pompidou). Her work "Skulptur 1940-45" is one of the most well known of her works, and it inspired me to make this work from photos of her work. It is not a copy, and mine version is considerable smaller than hers. What strikes me with her figure is the immediate power in the rising figure - with the "eye" making it both softer and strange and a bit unsettling. Also the scratch on the upper "back" and the soft level off in the rear contributes to making this figure of Sonja Ferlov Mancoba a masterpiece.

Between childhood and my children's childhood I nearly never was creative in this way. But then, when my children began to play with clay and plaster, I returned to the creative arts. First, I worked with and attended classes in clay figure modelling. Then I also worked with more or less abstract sculpture making in paper clay, wood, plaster, resins - and got occupied with mould making in silicones and castings in plaster and resins. Also, a few works of paintings. Born 1951. Living in central Copenhagen, Denmark.
