Softly Burning is a one of a kind piece carved from translucent orange alabaster from Utah . Because of the translucence of this stone the colors change according to the light shining through. The current picture is a daytime shot , but if you shine a light behind this it glows intensely orange and I recommend displaying it that way. I was inspired by fire forms and as a direct carver took my que from the stone its self while carving it. I just can not express enough how lovely this stone is , and what a a joy these spiraling forms are to touch. Its a rare stone to find now and this is a truly one of a kind piece .
