Bas-relief, Diameter - 59cm Particleboard, acrylic, gold enamel, author's technique. 2020. Circulation of 5 copies. At work, the solar system with nine planets is depicted. This work is part of my space series of bas-reliefs. The work looks spectacular due to the fact that it is located at a distance of 2 cm from the wall and creates a shadow creating a volumetric effect. The sun and planets are cut out on a chipboard manually by woodcarvers. Some of the planets are deepened into the surface and some protrude outward in the form of volumetric circles creating the effect of depth. The sun is painted with chromed gold enamel and glistens when exposed to light or sunlight. The background is painted matte black creating a contrast between the brilliance and the depth of dark tones. The work has mounting rails on the back side as well as metal brackets for hanging. This bas-relief has a circulation of 5 copies, each of which is made by hand. I am always inspired by the theme of space. It was written about in ancient religious and scientific books, and various theories have been put forward. Nowadays, space exploration continues and we are approaching an understanding of the world order. For me, space is an example of the relativity of the world. Time flows differently in different parts of the universe. Our planet is only a small point on the map of the galaxy, however, we are created here and now. For me, this is an occasion to think about our origin. Where did we come from and where are we going? This work calls to realize the greatness of the universe and find its place in it.
