About The Artwork
This welded sculpture demonstrates the union of a man and woman in Urhobo tradition and culture. The bride and groom in elaborate traditional fabric attire (Amuah for the husband and Osiba-gba-niku for the wife. Western influence on Urhobo culture is seen with the husband adorning his head with a hat and enhancing his grandeur with the horse tail to greet his in-laws. The bride appears to be shy in a humble spirit of adoration to the husband.
