Renè Steinke has been blowing glass in the Sacramento area since 1997. He began as an apprentice and went on to study at the Corning School of Glass in Corning, NY, as well as the Eugene School of Glass in Eugene, OR. He has taken countless workshops from traveling glass masters and has served as an artist in residency in Redding, CA and Scottsdale, AZ. He was also a major contributor to the HorseCow artist collaborative in West Sacramento, CA - which granted him the inspiration, time, and resources to build an entire hot glass work shop. Most recently, Renè has been working in his own studio, on his own hand crafted equipment in Sacramento, CA. Working in his chosen environment and on his personal time table has allowed Renè to flourish and grow as an artist. In the past few years Renè has grown to become a business owner (of Sacramento Art Glass), partner, and father to his son, Maxwell, and daughter, Caleigh. Thanks to his perpetual positive attitude, Renè has made his dreams come true by making glass blowing his only occupation. Renè is now one of Sacramento’s premiere glass blowers and glass blowing instructors. He has a vivaciousness with which he approaches all things, it's truly infectious and comes through in his work, his teaching style and his live demonstrations.
