### ABOUT

Antonino Puliafico is an Italian contemporary painter whose work explores the relationship between color, light, nature and emotion through a highly physical approach to painting.

Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, Puliafico uses the palette knife as a central element of his artistic language. Thick layers of paint, impasto, overlapping gestures and incised marks create richly textured surfaces in which color becomes structure, movement and atmosphere.

Nature is often the starting point of his work: Mediterranean landscapes, water, coastlines, trees, flowers and luminous horizons are transformed rather than literally represented. Figuration and abstraction coexist, placing his practice between contemporary landscape painting, gestural expressionism and lyrical abstraction.

The palette knife allows Puliafico to work directly into the surface of the painting—applying, dragging, layering and carving the paint. In his large-scale works, this physical gesture becomes increasingly immersive, giving the canvas an almost sculptural presence.

Self-taught artist.

Antonino Puliafico developed his artistic practice independently from an early age, pursuing a continuous personal exploration of painting, color, material and gesture.

His artistic language has evolved through years of studio practice and experimentation, with particular emphasis on palette-knife painting, impasto techniques and the expressive possibilities of oil and acrylic on canvas.
