Alex James

Artist, Writer, Craftsman, Cook, Winemaker, Animator, and Filmmaker among other things. Born and raised in Charlotte, N.C in the 60s and 70s, I was taught that if you wanted to do something and you can’t afford it, you would just make it yourself. Self-taught until high school, I wanted to be a comic book artist. This dream came true after I left commercial arts school, and I worked on a couple of independent comics and zines in the 90s. A major publisher even picked one up. I made award-winning videos for comic conventions, and after a brief stint in the medical field, I began writing. As of this date, I have 11 published novels out in the world. As I’ve gotten older, I've begun painting to remove the commercial arts from my style; I paint what I feel now instead of what I see. I love to travel, and I want to meet beautiful people and eat beautiful food. That is all. I have no desire to be rich and famous. I sell my paintings to buy airplane tickets so I can see more of this world to paint.
