Rakesh Babwah is a Trinidadian-born artist from San Juan, Trinidad, whose work is a fearless dive into the depths of human existence, chaos, and raw emotion. He moved to New York as a teenager, absorbing the city’s energy while wrestling with his own evolving perspective on life. Now based in Tampa, Florida, Rakesh continues to challenge the boundaries of art, perception, and truth.
Raised in a Hindu household, Rakesh spent years exploring different religions, only to come to a stark realization: religion is the greatest evil in the world. To him, it is a system of control—a force that divides, manipulates, and blinds people from true freedom. His art is not just a reflection of this belief; it is a direct challenge to it. His work seeks to dismantle the illusions that religion creates, forcing viewers to confront what lies beneath faith, tradition, and doctrine.
With a foundation in Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Illustration, his art defies structure, bending between movement and stillness, clarity and distortion.
