Raphaele Cohen-Bacry

Born and raised in Paris, France, I am an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, collage, assemblage, drawing, sculpture, and installation. My work has been featured in The New York Times and exhibited internationally.

My practice is informed by an uncommon combination of art studies, performing arts, and a Doctorate in Pharmacology, bringing together creativity, observation, and a deep interest in human experience. For many years, I worked in healthcare, where I witnessed the profound impact that environments can have on well-being. That experience continues to shape my artistic vision.

Through painting and mixed media, I explore transformation, resilience, and connection. My process often begins with visual free association—where a color suggests a form, a shape calls for another shape—creating an evolving personal vocabulary of images. Working with paint alongside found and repurposed materials, I bring together disparate elements into compositions that feel both contemporary and timeless.
