Raquel Labrador

Through portraits, I find a powerful tool that grants me expressive freedom and allows me to give voice and representation to fluid, diverse, mixed identities. These are aspects of contemporary society that I celebrate and find fascinating.

The freedom they represent motivates me to accompany the drawings with spontaneous strokes, vibrant colors, applied in free ways, and using materials that don’t allow me to focus on detail, such as watercolor or oil pastels.
