Rashid Arshed is a Pakistani-American artist best known for his imaginative, contemporary compositions inspired by Islamic calligraphy. Arshed’s work has been shown in many art galleries and museums in the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia, including the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT; the Heckscher Museum, Huntington, NY; the Gallery of Modern Art, Bombay; the Brunei Gallery, London; and the South Asia Institute, Chicago.. His work is in the permanent collections of the Chaffey Community Museum of Art, LA; the National Gallery of Art, Islamabad; the Hundal Collection, Chicago; and many other corporate and private collections. Arshed is also an accomplished photographer and writer. He has authored Uncle Sam on Trial: A Political Satire, ID of a Terrorist, Chasing the Axis of Evil, Justification of the Jewish State, and three collections of humorous essays in Urdu: Jungle maiN Mangal, Zair-o-Zabar, and Teesri Kitab.
