Raul Bravo (Rao) as he goes by, is a Cuban-American artist living in Miami. He’s been at this for more than twenty years, all self-taught, and you can see that freedom in his work. He paints with acrylics, oils, pastels—whatever feels right at the moment. His art gets personal. You’ll see symbols and bold shapes, bits of joy mixed with pain, and a lot about power, identity, and memory. He likes to break down his figures, making them abstract and a little chaotic, almost as if he’s piecing together stories about human connection and the messiness of society. There’s a constant push and pull between happiness and struggle. His paintings mix sharp geometry and real-life moments, layering bold colors to build up stories that feel both intimate and universal. You can’t miss his Cuban roots or the way he brings his journey to the United States into the mix. Each piece feels like an invitation—step inside, remember, feel. It’s about connecting—your memories, his memories, all tangled up in the colors and shapes, bridging the past and now.
