Oil painter of "trailings".
Trailings are invoked by the works of man's imprint on nature. Oil derricks interrupting the horizon of the plains, machine and man working in tandem scarring the earth to reach what they value. The area around the drilling at night is sinister, vaporous fumes arising into the sky as the fracking process extracts what it forces from the earth. Land and sky above and earth below are fractured into obedience.
My technique of dripping oil paint on the canvas came from the need to add intense fractured or nuanced backgrounds within her oil paintings. This creates the visual foundation the subject matter is juxtaposed against. Dripping the paint colors together dissipates the minerals in the paint in interesting ways becomes pronounced when adding opaque and glazed layers. At times the dripping is only glimpsed, other times it enhances, producing images that fade into the background and into each other. We see thru the painting and glimpse suggested images, much like patterns repeated in our mind, the painting becomes an interpretation and a perception of our reality.
