Rene Boghiu

Rene B. was born in Târgu Ocna, Romania, a town whose landscapes and atmosphere shaped his visual sensitivity from an early age. Now based in Slovakia, he explores in his paintings the tension between fragility and strength, between dream and reality, creating images that capture moments suspended in time. Feminine figures, dramatic landscapes, intense light, and fluid movement form the visual language through which he translates deep emotions — contemplation, melancholy, freedom, unrest.
His style aligns with expressive figuration, where color becomes an emotional instrument and light acts as a narrative force. He works predominantly with acrylic on canvas, using layered textures, transparencies, broad gestures, and strong contrasts to build a poetic, sometimes dreamlike atmosphere. Feminine characters, water, dance, nocturnal or dramatic scenery, and the dynamics of nature are recurring themes, approached with a blend of intuition, visual rigor, and poetic sensitivity.
