Known throughout the artistic community as ‘Reta’ Cynthia Richards fascination with art began as a child. Painting and exhibiting professionally for the last fourteen years Reta is a contemporary abstract expressionist artist with a BFA degree. Her practical theory has exposed her to the aesthetics of the art world but it has been her relationships. life experiences, emotions and observations that have molded her creative talent.

Reta is the founder of Art Couture gallery that opened its doors in 2007 in Dubai, UAE and has only lately scaled back its operations due to the market conditions.

Reta belongs to no one school of art, feeling it would restrict her potential to explore and be creative. Her art is continuously growing, evolving and maturing as she gives it complete freedom and spontaneity and through it expresses her own individuality in style and expression. One collection to the next one gets to view many sides of the same artist. Experimenting with different material and mediums Reta’s paintings are inspired by icons such as Matisse, Rothko, Klimt, Pollock, Monet, Picasso, Georgio O Keeffe and many more who have helped her define her own style.
