Ricardo Santiago Alves

Ricardo S. Alves (Lisbon, 1976) holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL).

His interest in photography emerged during his adolescence, while he lived in Macau, particularly influenced by his travels throughout Asia. After returning to Portugal, he developed a photographic career initially focused on natural landscapes and adventure sports, with a particular emphasis on rock climbing.

He was responsible for the photographic production of the guidebook Portugal – Rock Climbing (2017) and author of the Sintra Bouldering Guidebook (2021).

Throughout his career, he has developed work that combines landscape photography with a documentary approach, exploring the relationship between human beings, territory, and landscape.
