Richard Oakford

After going to Belgium to live I attended art courses at the NATO base near Mons given by Derek Wilford, a former student of the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Having then returned to the UK I have exhibited at the Royal College of Physicians, Regents Park, London. Then took the opportunity to attend a 2 week workshop at the Slade School of Fine Art which rekindled my enthusiasm for figuritive art. I try to create work which has some mystery and sensuality. Degas is one of my main influences.
I practice life drawing as much as I can which gives me a source of inspiration to express the human form in all it's myriad ways through my body and soul, not so much my head. I have been recently influenced by Morag Donnelly who brings meditation, music and freedom into her art sessions
