My paintings are a painterly colorfield abstraction with a sensibility that is quiet and calm.
So painterly, of the hand, but depicting a volume of space, which seems counter intuitive but I also see this in the paintings of Colorfield [or Lyrical Abstraction] painters particularly Olitzky, Dzubas, Poons, Louis, Rothko and Diebenkorn; a similar feel for abstract compositions of space with a painterly sensibility. I couldn't make these paintings without the context of the Colorfield painters, they opened the door for my ideas of pictorial space, its depths and volumes, and how gesture shapes that space, enhancing the rhythm and movement of the eye around and across the surface of the painting.
My studio is in Sunset Park Brooklyn.
