Robina Yasmin

Robina Yasmin is a British painter and graduate of the Glasgow School of Art. She has worked professionally as an artist for more than two decades, exhibiting in numerous solo and group exhibitions, with work held in private collections internationally.
Working primarily in oils, her current practice encompasses figurative painting and atmospheric landscape. Her portraits explore stillness, intimacy and the suggestion of an unspoken narrative, often using dramatic contrasts of light and darkness and recurring motifs from the natural world.
Her landscapes share the same fascination with light and atmosphere. Woodland, water, distant lights and fading horizons emerge through restrained layers of colour, creating places that sit somewhere between observation and memory.
Light has always been central to Yasmin's painting. Whether working with the human figure or landscape, she uses strong composition, colour and areas of darkness to define form and create narratives that remain open to the viewer's interpretation.
Her relationship with oil paint began in childhood when she was given her first set of oils, beginning a fascination with the medium that has continued throughout her career.
