Black is one of the colors used by mankind since prehistory along with red iron. They are also the first to appear in the chromatic world of ceramics; we find traces of color in periods such as the Neolithic or the Bronze Age. The color black, red, white and the combination of all of them is part of the palette of colors of the Celtiberian culture.
The ceramic workshop Roca Caus in the town of Verdú in Barcelona ES, has a long tradition transmitted from century to century, from father to son. The process of conception and making is meticulously thought and everything is handmade.
Josep, the lastest heir, is producing each piece, without being helped by molds. Therefore, every piece is unique and is the testimony of the spontaneity of the ceramist. From traditional ceramics to the black one, typical from his town, Josep offers a beautiful range of unique and authentic products.
The technique of finishing our ceramic directly in the flame is ancestral. The cooking time is quite long, approximately 50 hours. The passage of the flames creates uneven shades of beige and gray. This process gives our Black Ceramic a deep matte aspect with silver reflections, elegant and very contemporary.
