Roman Golovachev-Bessonov

Roman Golovachev (Bessonov) is an artist whose creative journey has been shaped by years of travel and immersion in different cultures. Born in Novosibirsk, Western Siberia, he later lived between Irkutsk in Eastern Siberia and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, before settling for many years in Montenegro and Portugal. The diversity of landscapes, traditions, and visual experiences encountered along the way became the foundation of his artistic practice and his primary source of inspiration.

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Golovachev continues to develop an artistic language that began forming in childhood. Alongside brushes and palette knives, he works with his hands, fabric, cotton threads, and dried grasses, creating richly textured surfaces that give each painting a distinctive tactile presence.

For the artist, every painting is an act of transferring inner energy onto the canvas. Rather than representing the visible world, his work explores what cannot be seen — silence, light, movement, memory, and emotional presence. His compositions invite viewers to slow down, look beyond the surface, and discover their own interpretations within abstract forms.
