Anna Rolskaya

Anna Rolskaya (b. 1985, Moscow) is an abstract painter based in Lisbon, Portugal (since 2015). Classically trained from childhood, she studied communication design in Moscow, completed a master’s degree at ESAD in Portugal, and took an abstract painting course at Central Saint Martins.

Working primarily with acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, Rolskaya builds her paintings through transparent washes, layered colour, drawn marks, and repeated acts of covering and revealing. Floral and landscape-like forms carry lived experience: doubt, tenderness, resistance, memory, and desire. Her work explores maturing, limitation, and the loss that accompanies choice. It creates a visual balance where contradictions remain present without being forced into resolution.

Rolskaya has exhibited in Portugal, London, and Barcelona. Her paintings are held in private collections across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Europe.
