Rosaline Zhang

I am a recent graduate of the lovely and traumatic RISD Painting program. Have recently moved back to sunny Los Angeles, where I am teaching art to children for a living, and regaining a tan.

I try to make paintings that are tender and honest and which make me feel safe and strong. I hope they make you feel a certain way too. I'm interested in femininity, sexuality, flesh, bodies, theatricality, voyeurism, rituals, compulsions, repetition, meditation, prayer, breasts, mountains, tragedy, relics, squares, the color blue, ocean, small feet, and familial and cultural inheritance.

I like California, clay (especially clay), the smell of paint thinner, and Nietzsche, who says, You must have chaos within you, to give birth to a dancing star.
