Rosetta Bentz

I was born in Calabria, Italy in December 1955 and came to this country as an infant. I started painting later on in life -- in my early 30's.

I paint mostly in oil paint and oil stick and love the communication between myself and different surfaces such as canvas, wood, paper, sheet metal and linoleum tile. Some of my paintings are done entirely with a palette knife. I like lots of texture and color to create a feeling of movement -- a dance. I also enjoy creating collages and making cards. My inspiration is nature and my main subjects for the last eight years have been land and seascapes. My husband is also an artist and we share a studio in Long Island City, New York.
