rreonsu (Yeonsoo) is a painter whose work explores expectation as a central theme. Through oil painting and mixed media, she records the movement of gaze and sensation, which she describes as a gaze filled with longing. Her practice examines socially constructed expectations—standards of a good life and a good person—and the cyclical structure of expectation, loss, stagnation, and continuation.
Using organic forms such as cells, roots, and fungi, rreonsu visualizes how expectations proliferate and persist. Across her Gaze series, shifts in scale and viewpoint reflect changing modes of perception, from environmental awareness to focused, magnified attention.
She continues to observe the movement of gaze and sensation while sustaining ongoing experimentation with materials and methods. Her work functions as an intuitive record of moments in which gaze and sensation arrive and linger, inviting viewers to reconsider the expectations they hold from a broader, more spacious perspective.
