Ryotaro Fuyuki (b. 1984, Toyama, Japan) is a contemporary artist based in Osaka. Trained in sculpture, he works across installation, moving objects, video, and site-responsive projects.
His practice begins with things that resist control: lost objects, cats, children, rain, institutional rules, border markers, rumors, and everyday materials. He is interested in the moment when human-made objects and systems begin to drift away from their assigned roles and act beyond human intention.
Rather than presenting an artwork as a fixed object or conclusion, Fuyuki creates conditions in which meaning appears, shifts, and remains unfinished. His works often take the form of fragile monuments, temporary structures, moving objects, or events that unfold through time.
He has participated in residencies and projects in New York, Manila, Amsterdam, Sapporo, Thailand, and Japan. His work has been presented at venues including Vargas Museum, Punt WG, NARS Foundation, BnA Alter Museum, Hiroshima MOCA, and Enokojima Art, Culture and Creative Center.
