Fiber fine artist presenting unique contemporary works of depth, beauty, meaning, and lasting value.

I am Svetlana Turov, also known as sFeltLana, a Canada based fiber fine artist from Burlington, Ontario. The name sFeltLana reflects a fusion of my identity and medium: it carries my given name Svetlana, the word Felt which is my primary base of creation and one of the world’s age old fiber art forms, and Lana, the Spanish word for wool. Through this fusion I reimagine an ancient tradition as a voice for contemporary Fine Art.

My practice transforms this medium into a language of contemporary expression. Each work is conceived as a composition of light, depth, and texture, where fiber becomes a painterly surface with sculptural resonance. I explore themes of abstraction, landscape, and romantic vision, creating pieces that invite reflection and emotional presence. The lineage of this art, carried through centuries, now emerges as vibrant contemporary Fine Art. Without glass or glare, each piece invites direct connection and can be experienced fully from any angle, becoming a living presence within an interior space.

Fiber Fine Art brings a distinct value to interiors. Its textured surfaces and luminous colors shift with the light...

My formation as an artist grew from inherited knowledge and continuous self directed study. Inspired by ancient Scythian felted artworks that are more than two thousand years old and recognized as part of the world’s cultural heritage, I developed a practice that honors history while speaking in the language of contemporary Fine Art. Over time I expanded this foundation with modern approaches such as nuno felting, wet felting, embroidery, and fabric painting, methods and techniques that are documented in my published monograph. This body of work has allowed me to create a personal visual language that unites heritage with innovation.
