Art has been inseparable from my life for as long as I can remember. I did not come to painting simply as a profession, but as a natural gift and an essential part of who I am. This early connection was strengthened through formal studies at art high school and university, and deepened through years of artistic practice and the experience of directing my own gallery.
My artistic journey has developed through an exploration of figurative painting, landscape, and more open forms of expression. The great traditions of modern painting, particularly Impressionism and Expressionism, have been important influences along this path, offering possibilities for exploring light, colour, movement, and the expressive character of the painted surface. Yet my relationship with these traditions has always been one of personal exploration rather than adherence to a particular school.
Whether working with the human figure, landscape, or more expressive compositions, I approach painting as an evolving relationship between vision, colour, material, and gesture. The initial subject or composition may be clearly defined, yet the act of painting can open possibilities beyond the original conception. Colour transforms colour, gestures alter relationships, ...
My artistic education began in art high school and continued at university, where formal study strengthened the technical knowledge, visual understanding, and discipline that would support my development as a painter.
Yet my formation as an artist has never been limited to academic education. It has continued through decades of painting, independent exploration, and direct engagement with the traditions and possibilities of visual art.
Working across figurative painting, landscape, and more expressive approaches has allowed me to deepen my understanding of colour, composition, material, and the relationship between artistic intention and the developing work.
The experience of directing my own gallery also became an important part of this continuing education, bringing my individual practice into dialogue with other artists, artworks, and perspectives.
For me, artistic education is not a completed stage, but a lifelong process in which knowledge, experience, observation, and discovery continue to shape one another.
My exhibition history has followed a selective path rather than a continuous programme of public presentations. Throughout my artistic journey, the primary focus of my practice has remained the development of the work itself, through painting, experimentation, and independent exploration.
An important dimension of my experience has been directing my own gallery, where I developed a deeper understanding of how artworks inhabit space and how their relationships with the surrounding environment influence the viewer's encounter with them.
I have always valued exhibitions as opportunities for paintings to enter into dialogue with audiences beyond the studio. The relationship between a work, the space in which it is presented, and the person encountering it can reveal qualities that are not always apparent in isolation.
For me, the significance of an artistic journey is not measured by the number of exhibitions, but by the continuity, integrity, and development of the work itself.
