Sally Trueman

I am a contemporary British artist working primarily in pastel, creating botanical paintings shaped by close observation and the movement of light across foliage and flower forms. My work is defined by subtle tonal transitions, layered mark‑making and a quiet, contemplative presence.

I trained in Fine Art with a strong foundation in drawing, colour and observational practice, disciplines that continue to anchor my work today. Over time I’ve deepened my practice through independent research into pastel and oil techniques. I am particularly concerned with light, atmosphere and expressive mark‑making as defining elements of my visual language, cultivating a deeper connection to botanical subjects and the sophisticated, enduring influence of colour.
