Sang Mauv

Sang Mauv is a contemporary visual artist, illustrator, and theorist whose practice operates at the critical, tense intersection of 18th-century classical aesthetics, queer theory, and modern digital hyper-connectivity. Rejecting the passive comfort of decorative nostalgia, Sang Mauv deconstructs historical visual and literary forms to investigate how contemporary interfaces—specifically the handheld screen and the algorithmic gaze—reconfigure human desire, intimacy, and power dynamics.
With a rigorous academic pedigree, the artist systematically reclaims fluid Rococo motifs (shells, scrolls, and arabesques) as subversive symbols of gender fluidity and shifting subjectivities. In Sang Mauv's work, the human body is articulated as a political and fluid battlefield of desire, projecting the theatricality of Choderlos de Laclos and other classical masters onto the glowing glass of our smartphones.
Based in France, Sang Mauv is also a prominent voice in the contemporary queer scene, collaborating with social organizations and leading school workshops on critical visual literacy and the deconstruction of gender stereotypes.
