Sarmite Lasmane

I design and create art rugs and wall décors, "painting" with a tufting gun and other textile-making tools. My work intrigues by contrasting hard, monolithic buildings on soft, textured surfaces, often in abstract forms. I also bring the outside in, incorporating botanical motifs and using bright, cheerful, and multi-coloured shades. The titles of my artworks emerge naturally from what I see within them.

Through my art, I express my worldview by merging nature and contemporary architecture, blending organic and structured elements. I love experimenting with techniques, materials, and skills to capture surprising and joyful moments. Inspired by surreal and abstract art, I draw influence from Joan Miró, Yayoi Kusama, and Latvian artist Elita Patmalniece. My work is for anyone with empty walls who seeks cosy, tangible textile art—pieces that invite touch, warmth, and imagination into their space.
