Satomi Sugimoto was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and lives and works in Tokyo. She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Her practice centers on hand-crafted sculpture and works on paper, moving between three-dimensional form, drawing, and collage. With a focus on structure, surface, and measured composition, she creates works that balance restraint with quiet tension. Each piece is developed through a deliberate, hands-on process in her Tokyo studio.
