Biography
I was born in East London and work currently from my studio in Suffolk UK. My daily practice includes drawing in the landscape while out walking. I spend many hours in the Suffolk countryside under the big sky which gives a lot of energy when the gossamer veil of dusk descends. This stillness provides creative energy that I carry to the studio. My studio work is focused on intimate studies of flowers.

Movement – the dance of making marks is central to my creative process. My work aims unashamedly at beauty but also the cryptic ‘what if, what is’ that comes from play and investigation. Some works are highly decorative some reflective and melancholic. Whatever the output I am not afraid of showing the sensual and joyful struggle that I have with paint, how as a painter I am in a relationship with paint as well as the subject. The paint always strives to be dominant demanding that it sits in thick layers and occupies the main fanfare of the image.

I work mainly in oil but also make photographic studies.

I have works in private collections in UK, France, Ireland and USA.

I studied oil painting [1997-2005] with the Welsh Landscape artist John Lewis at his studios in Hertfordshire. John was a former life tutor at Byam Shaw Independent Art School London.
