Stephanie Machore

My expression of art has always been in the abstract form based on the level of freedom it entails. I like to think of my pieces as manifestations of untapped places in the soul. When I am painting on canvas, I usually start out with a sketch from a perceived image in my head, and work to bring it together as seen in the mind's eye. In making the wood assemblages, these come together a little more intuitively by re-arranging the found pieces into a composition that speaks to me. In either case the goal is to create something of harmony where color, contrast and subtlety are at play.
