Gaetano Pasqualicchio

My works are inspired by the colors and history of the Mediterranean Sea and Southern Italy. Under the southern sun, colors become basic and tend to take on dominant hues of ochre, red, black, and white. These are the same colors found in Hellenic vase painting, which allow one to focus on the silhouette of the figures rather than on photographic representation. I delude myself that one can paint with just a few basic colors instead of inundating them with the entire chromatic range we know.
