Semire Akyazi

I am a self-taught figurative and portrait artist based in Turkey, with a deep-rooted passion for art that began in my childhood. After a fulfilling career in pharmacy, I pursued a Master’s degree in Ceramics and Glass, opening my own studio where I exhibited my work in three solo shows and numerous group exhibitions—earning several awards along the way.

In recent years, I’ve returned to my love for painting, focusing on realistic pastel portraits, starting with pets and gradually expanding into expressive human figures. I specialize in detailed, lifelike portraits that capture emotion and character, using both pastel and oil painting techniques. Each piece I create is one-of-a-kind, crafted with care and intention.

My artworks range from soulful pet portraits to expressive human figures, often blending emotional storytelling with a modern, colorful style. I’m always open to custom portrait commissions and love creating meaningful, personalized art that connects with people.

After retiring from Dokuz Eylul University Hospital Chief Pharmacy in 1998, I graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramics-Glass Department in 2005 with my thesis on "The use of ceramic materials in Art Nouveau architecture and Antoni Gaudi".
I studied at the workshops of artists such as Ellen Shankin, Tara Dawley and Steven Hill in Kansas City, Virginia and Santa Fe in the USA.
I attended Pietro Magdalena's workshops in La Meridiana Studio Cortona Italy.
Because I was interested in painting, I went to many courses and received training from famous artists.

As a ceramic artist I opened 3 personal exhibitions and joined many mixed exhibitions, got many awards...
My only solo exhibition on painting was : G Art Gallery Aug. 25, 2021 - Aug. 31, 2021 Kusadasi Hilton / Turkey
